Columns for "Mother Tongue" were all blank. 'Y' was entered in columns 'Able to read' and 'Able to write' for Redman, Nellie, and Zeona. 'Yes' was entered in the column 'Able to speak English', even for the toddler Helen.

    Notes: The above is transcribed directly from original microfilm of the form, including the bold "U.S." in the columns for father's and mother's place of birth. Why wasn't 'Arkansas' entered since it was obviously known? There were no similar entries by the same enumerator. Was Redman being difficult? The number '767' was written in the right margin of the form next to Redman's information.
